memory foam pillow

Many of the current recommendations made by sleep experts today advise against sleeping on the stomach. To some extent, for the reasons they have put forth, they are correct. But now, with the Stasis Sleep™ Pillow, you can start to sleep more comfortably on your front or stomach, reduce tossing and turning, relieve discomfort, and more. The ultimate memory foam pillow!

"Finally, sleeping on one's stomach is OK!"

There are two major concerns with sleeping on the stomach:

  1. Lower Back Discomfort
  2. Neck and Shoulder Discomfort
  3. Hug or Torso Pillow

Lower Back Discomfort - (READ IT ALL: You might be surprised!)"

This section is the most detailed of all for Stasis Sleep™ Pillow uses, because it is one of the main reasons the Stasis Sleep™ Pillow came into existence. We feel this is one of the greatest solutions to an unmet need of millions of people today! Once you see how the process of tossing and turning takes place, you might gain a deeper appreciation for the Stasis Sleep™ Pillow's unique design and all it can help accomplish!

Looking for a comfortable way to sleep on his front or stomach, the developer of the Stasis Sleep™ Pillow attempted to align his body symmetrically, or align the body equally on both sides (Image 1 - below) throughout the entire length of the body. This allows gravity to be distributed evenly on BOTH sides of the body simultaneously. In effect, this allows the body to be acted upon correctly, while rebuilding more evenly during the resting period. This is the ideal way to align the lower-body when sleeping on the front or stomach. But, the inventor identified one small problem with this, which might come as quite some surprise… the toes and ankles!

"The TOES and ANKLES…are you kidding?"

Sounds wild, doesn't it? Take a few moments the next time you go to sleep on your stomach to notice something that inevitably happens to most people…we pivot one of our feet outward and move the leg to the side and away from the body (Image 2)! The answer to why this happens is the key to achieving a better night's sleep for anyone who sleep on his or her stomach!

In Image 1, you will notice the body is aligned nicely, meaning symmetrically, but the weight of the lower leg is placed on the delicate toes and ankles (Image 1a), which is due to the inability of many people's ankles to fully straighten, extend comfortably to align with the shin, and rest evenly on the resting surface. The body doesn't like this excessive pressure, so we attempt to relieve this discomfort by a shift or pivot of the foot out to the side (Image 2). sleep - process of tossing and turning This achieves the goal of relieving the discomfort on the delicate toes and ankle, but unfortunately leads to a set of different circumstantial discomfort(s)! Yes, the process begins at our ankles!

But, what does this have to do with the lower back and discomfort? That is a good question! With the pivoting of the ankle to alleviate the potential pressure on the ankles, top of the feet, and throughout the toes, more than the foot alone changes it's position! The entire leg, all the way up into the hip and lower back region, ALSO pivots to create an asymmetrical (non-balanced or non-equal) bodily alignment!

lack of support leading to lower back discomfort
Image 3

This leads to eventual discomfort in the lower back region with gravity affecting the different halves of the body unevenly as the body attempts to repair itself from the waking hours. The muscles and skeletal system in these regions are unevenly, or non-symmetrically, aligned on each side of the body. We are ideally looking for balanced, symmetrical, bodily positioning when we sleep…hence "Stasis" Sleep™ Pillow. Achieving a balanced bodily position is critical to getting a good night's rest and avoid the eventual discomfort of the affects of gravity on our bodies.

The leg now, instead of returning to the original point of discomfort, continues it journey in the only direction it can…upward (images 3-5)! This turning does help to temporarily relieve the discomfort experienced in the previous resting position, but you probably can guess what happens next.

turn over to side sleep position
Image 4

You guessed it…as the leg moves upward to relieve the slight discomfort in the lower back region, it only adds to the asymmetry in the lower back region, and this movement ALSO elevates/raises the hip on the side of the upwardly moving leg (Image 3 - right arrow)!

As this takes place though, the hips and lower back don't work in isolation and the TORSO (body's mid-section) lifts off the support surface on the same side as the initial leg's side (Image 4).

side sleep - new problems

AMAZING! This creates a lack of support for the hips, lower back, AND torso, which can easily lead to discomfort, and the body eventually moves into "The Roll" (images 4 & 5). There you have it…the "cycle of Tossing & Turning" explained in a linear, process-oriented way.

Image 6 illustrates how the Stasis Sleep™ Pillow is used to help relieve the weight from the delicate feet and ankles and evenly distribute it across the lower leg. This allows the body to stay in the ideal, symmetrically aligned sleeping position, which helps prevent potential lower back pain while you sleep on your stomach.

"…innovative…truly innovative!"

The pillow design's length, width, and height provide you with the versatility needed to adjust to your own desired use. The level of comfort you can achieve from the Stasis Sleep™ Pillow is seemingly seamless. This memroy foam pillow ankle use is the ultimate sleep aid.

Neck and Shoulder Discomfort

Tackling the neck and shoulder discomfort aspect of sleeping on the stomach is NOT an easy issue. There are legitimate concerns with turning the head to the side in order to sleep comfortably on the resting surface, which can lead to discomfort. Although we have designed a pillow that will help achieve this, it would be very cost prohibitive to make and would limit the user to a single use of the pillow alone, which is something we do not advocate. And, it would look like a science fiction device instead of anything like the memory foam pillows we know today!

Fortunately, there are ways to help alleviate the discomfort while maintaining versatility, giving people choices on how they deal with the 'turning of the neck' , which can lead to neck discomfort.

While sleeping on the stomach, there are several ways the Stasis Sleep™ Pillow can be used. As shown in Image 7, the support is used with the higher end "in", which contours to and simultaneously supports the neck and head. memory foam pillow Standard pillows today do not allow the same level of support and personalization through heat sensitive material of which the Stasis Sleep™ Pillow is made. It is amazing how this memory foam pillow will change for each person, giving them the level of comfort they desire. And, the design adapts to an incredible range of body types.

"…seems to know my needs…it's so personal."

There are many people today who do not use a head pillow because of the issues that surround sleeping on the stomach and resultant neck discomfort. In the following use, images 8a-8c, you will see the pillow reversed, thus enabling the person to achieve the desired level of elevation and support by moving the memory foam pillow 'up' or 'down' in respect to the body. The visco-elastic material helps achieve this desired level of comfort, adapting to each person in a any chosen position, from slight use to full use with greatest support and elevation.

Don't be stuck with a single, static elevation with your pillows. With the Stasis Sleep™ Pillow, you now have a choice…every time you go to sleep. Most people, even those who presently don't use a head pillow, will find a new level of comfort with the Stasis Sleep™ Pillow.

The next use is an interesting one that allows you to easily support the head and achieve a greatly reduced 'turning' of the neck, which greatly

reduces the chances of getting neck and shoulder pain (Image 9). For the portion of the face resting on the pillow, Stasis Sleep™ Pillow contours and cradles you with support. Try this with your current pillow and you will find that your face just rolls off and lacks support! Also, you might find with your current pillow a blocking of the nasal passageway from the pillow itself. This isn't the case when you use your Stasis Sleep™ Pillow in the proper fashion.

As you can see, the Stasis Sleep™ Pillow can be 'flipped', which allows you a choice in the amount of elevation and support you desire (Image 10). You can also choose the 'turning reduction angle' and amount of support you want for your head and neck.

Try it out in different positions and you will find several different ways to achieve greater comfort and support while sleeping on your stomach!

With greater versatility than any other memory foam pillow we have seen, you now have a choice with the Stasis Sleep™ Pillow. If you are someone who is partial to sleeping on your stomach, we are happy to bring you a pillow that actually works! Enjoy your new Stasis Sleep™ Pillow(s)! And, please let us know what you think of your new found comfort. It is always wonderful to hear your feedback.
